Poor little ugly dude

He has a face only a mother Starling could love. I found him on my balcony this morning squawking loudly. After taking his portrait, I put on a glove and returned him to the nest in the eave he fell out of. I hope he's okay. I saw two of his dead siblings in the yard below my apartment.

The Dog Rescuer...

A young fireman emerges from a house clutching a dog who was left inside when it caught fire. The fire was caused by a man who was free-basing cocaine next door catching two houses on fire.

Evening drive ...

I just love the Texas Panhandle. It is such a mixture of city and country, sky and land, tamed and wild - all within a few minutes of my humble abode.

In five minutes I can be in a place with the growing city at my back and an amazing pristine sun setting in front of me.

Last night I decided to take advantage of the wonderful weather and drive around Loop 335 that circles our city.

As usual- I brought along my camera and in just the span of an hour I took over 150 photos - the best of which are attached.

So next time the spring weather beckons, and you don't want to spend another evening bored-silly watching the tube- grab your camera and get out .

Open your eyes to the photographic possibilities and suddenly you'll start seeing things that you normally wouldn't have seen.

Balcony posers

I'm surprised how the birds on my balcony are getting so conditioned to my presence. I can now sit on the deck about 5 feet away and they don't seem to care as long as I don't make any sudden movements.

Green Peppers in Black & White

I was going through an old box of black & white negatives (1980s) when i found this still life I shot many, many years ago. I scanned it in and it made a lovely print. I kind of miss shooting with film, the wide latitude-not the mess or expense.

Good Friday ...

Good Friday is the mirror held up by Jesus so that we can see ourselves in all our stark reality, and then it turns us to that cross and to his eyes and we hear these words, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." 

That's us! 


So we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves.


 We see in Him a love so amazing so divine that it loves us even when we turn away from it, or spurn it, or crucify it. 

There is no faith without understanding that through Him we see into the heart of God and find it filled with mercy for the sinner whoever he or she may be. 

Chinooks in Amarillo

I caught a couple of Chinooks out at the airport today - and just had to take a few photos. I've seen them here often (from Ft Hood I'm thinking) but they are always impressive none-the-less.

Colossus: the Forbin Project

I watched one of my favorite old "computers are evil" themed movies today: Colossus: the Forbin Project and was inspired to make this for my desktop. Now your computer can be evil too. Colossus makes HAL look like a abacus.

I hear they are making a remake.
